Twomey Report into Donations reform

 

In November 2008 NSW Premier Nathan Rees released the Twomey Report into reforming our system of political donations in NSW.  The Premier called for submissions which are due on 5th December 2008.

Government Loses Currawong Vote
Media release, NSW Greens MP Sylvia Hale

The government was defeated today in its attempt to stop the NSW Upper House passing a resolution calling for the immediate heritage listing of the Currawong site on Pittwater and its protection from a proposed residential sub-division. The motion was moved as a matter of urgency by Greens MP Sylvia Hale and was carried 22 votes to 16.

Ms Hale described the Currawong saga as ” a disgraceful saga of backroom deals between party insiders and their mates with a big dollop of political donations to help the wheels go around.”

Disclosure Law Changes Too Little Too Late: Greens

September 12 2008

The announcement today by new Planning Minister Kristina Kenneally that developers will be required to disclose their political donations when they submit development applications is “too little, too late” according to NSW Greens planning spokesperson Sylvia Hale.
